One of Rowland’s much quoted aphorisms was:
‘All we need is unity of purpose . . . and some cash.’
Well here he is a quarter of a century ago, asking for money. And by the way, he may not have been sitting at the top table but you can be sure that he was the person who actually organised the whole thing.
On Rowland’s right is Ian Wyles, later to become Stirling Provost. On his left is Michael Connerty, eventual MP for Linlithgow and East Falkirk. Rowland canvassed for him assiduously when he tried several times to unseat the Tory MP Michael Forsyth.
